Are sunflower specialist bees really specializing?
Most bees are generalists, feeding from a variety of flowering plants. A small number of bees specialize on plant species or genera. The genus Svastra is considered a sunflower specialist, but empirical research on their pollen preferences is scarce.
This research reports on the level to which sunflower bees in Georgia, USA, specialized on pollen from sunflowers. I’m currently seeking a peer-reviewed publication for this work. Please contact me with the form below if you’re interested.
