This content is based on a post originally published on September 15, 2011 on my blog “Pollinators Info” (no longer online).
What to plant to attract pollinators where YOU live!
The Pollinator Partnership has developed an amazing resource for anyone interested in planting for pollinators. It’s called an Ecoregional Planting Guide, and it’s free to download. All you do is enter your zip code on the Pollinator Partnership Ecoegional Planting Guides page, and up pops your regional planting guide! It’s like magic, you gotta to love it!
In each guide you’ll find:
- An introduction to the variety of pollinating animals that live in the U.S., and why it’s important to do everything we can to conserve them.
- A description of your unique ecoregion, and the climate and species that make it special.
- A large table with ideas for native plants to grow in your garden, and the pollinators each will attract.
- Another table with the bloom times for each recommended species
I used the one for my region to start my first pollinator garden and, while it’s a fantastic resource, your growing conditions will probably require a little trial and error to find out what works on your property. Get your free guide today and start growing!
