This content is based on a post originally published on August 30, 2011 on my blog “Pollinators Info” (no longer online).
The Pollinator Conservation Handbook: A Guide to Understanding, Protecting, and Providing Habitat for Native Pollinator Insects is another great resource from the Xerces Society! It seemed to me that this handbook is focused on teaching you how to create pollinator habitat, with basic information about identifying pollinators themselves. This is in contrast to Xerces’ more comprehensive Attracting Native Pollinators, which contains a large section devoted to identifying native bees. Both are enjoyable and informative additions to your pollination library! I would recommend to someone just starting out learning about pollinators to order the Pollinator Conservation Handbook as an introduction, then purchase Attracting Native Pollinators to learn about pollinators in more detail.
