This content is from a post originally published on January 7, 2012, on my blog “Pollinators Info” (no longer online).
Having native, blooming, plants on your property is the simplest thing you can do to help pollinators. Any time is a great time to find your local native plant nursery that can supply you with pollinator food! Supporting a local garden center, rather than a chain, is also supporting your local economy. You might even be able to request species you’d like to add to your garden!
The Plant Native is a website that allows you to search for native plant nurseries throughout the U.S. The site is a great place to start, but might not list every nursery that carries natives, so I suggest also doing a search for “native plants” in your area. Asking gardeners that use natives where they bought theirs is another idea.
